Wedding Favor: Hot and Sweet Garlic Pickles

Here's a shortcut recipe for homemade pickles that'll be a tangy treat for your guests!

Edible favors are always a hit, and these tasty pickles are no exception. This easy recipe is part store-bought, part homemade, so it's simple to make yet oh-so-good. You'll need: 1. A 1-gallon jar of dill pickles 2. A 5-pound bag of sugar ...

Next, add the hot pepper sauce, garlic and red pepper flakes to the jar, and mix to combine. Then add the sugar, one-third of the bag at a time, mixing in between additions so that it's fully combined with the pickles.

Replace the lid on the jar and let it sit at room temperature for one week. Tip the jar back and forth throughout the week to continue to mix the ingredients together in the jar.

After a week, you're ready to can the pickles! Remove the metal rings and the lids from each jar, and sterilize the jars by boiling them in hot water for a few minutes. Remove the jars from the water and let them cool. While they're cooling, bo...

Fill each jar with pickles, liquid, and at least one garlic clove. Leave about a half inch from the top of the jar. Cover each jar with a lid, and then the metal ring.

We covered each jar with fabric, and made a label indicating what was inside. The pickles should be refrigerated and can last for a month after opening, so be sure to put your wedding date on the label as a reference!
